In terms of implementation, when I was in high school we were tasked, as a class of three, to come up with some ideas of games that we could design and we discussed recreating snake as a 3d game instead of just 2d.
We designed the game as 2d first to understand the mechanics and first realised all that it took to create the game.
We never ended up creating the 3d game, but in thinking about it, our teacher got us to think creatively and beyond the design to think about how we would implement it if we were to create it, which i found benefical as a student.
Sometimes planning for the implementation of an idea can be more benefical to another study or topic within the course as you start to think about different ideas and link ideas from different areas together.
