Cyber security relates to the practice of protecting computers, networks, programs, and data from digital attacks whereas cyber awareness relates to the attitudes and behaviours that aim to protect our information. Cyber security is a wider concept encapsulating the safe and responsible use of information communication technologies. I believe these concepts need to be taught comprehensively in the classroom to better equip learners to navigate and use the digital world. I think it is also important that this should be taught in a relevant way – through focusing on relevant technologies such as social media app use or issues such as utilising insecure free wifi hotspots.
